Family & Children’s partners with Cameron to turn around Long Island lives

July 23, 2013 – Family & Children’s Association, one of the longest-established and largest providers of human services on Long Island, selected Cameron to develop new ways to extend the reach of its fund-raising efforts.

To dramatize the ways Family & Children’s helps almost 25,000 of the most vulnerable Long Islanders each year, the agency produced a series of original videos featuring testimonials from individuals whose lives have been turned around thanks to Family & Children’s programs. The three videos spotlight testimonials from:

  • Two retired veterans of the U.S. Marines Corps. who were injured in service and ended up homeless, who now have a permanent home in Family & Children’s Veterans Residence in West Hempstead.
  • A mother and daughter who participate in Family & Children’s Nursery Co-op, which allows parents to pursue personal and family goals while their children are provided with safe, nurturing, short-term childcare.
  • A college-bound high school senior who was able to overcome a difficult family situation by taking advantage of Family & Children’s Nassau Haven shelter; PINS Diversion program, which keeps at-risk youth out of the juvenile justice system by helping to resolve family conflicts; and Anger Management Program.

The videos were launched via a campaign on GoFundMe.com, a popular crowdfunding site used for a wide variety of personal causes. Visitors to Family & Children’s pages on GoFundMe.com can quickly and easily make a tax-deductible donation via a credit or debit card with just a few clicks.
